Matcha Genmaicha
Keiko
Type: Green
Origin: Japan, Kagoshima Prefecture
Product Description: Organic specialty blend combining half shaded tea leaves, fine tea stems from the 2nd picking and roasted rice beans which make for a toasty aroma. Matcha tea powder has been added for a beautiful green cup.
Temperature: 175° F
Amount: 3 grams
Steeping Time: 2 minutes
The dry leaves have a sweet hay and bold green aroma.
The golden-green infusion has a marine and roasted nutty aroma. The taste is savory with notes of toasted rice and roasted nuts with a long green finish.
I found the roasted flavor of this tea to be comforting and it carries well through multiple steepings. As expected, the matcha is only present for the first steeping. I enjoyed the natural astrigency and would recommend a slightly shorter steeping time if you prefer more moderate results.
