The dry leaves have a light, sweet, floral aroma.

The infusion is clear with a pale yellow-green color and a light sweet green aroma.  The taste is smooth and lightly green, savory and nutty, with a long finish.

This is a tea best enjoyed separate from any meals where its delicately subtle flavor and aroma would be lost.  Like most yellow teas, the taste remained smooth and lightly savory, reminding me of silver needle white tea.  

Unfortunately, this tea has been discontinued.

Tea Review: Golden Monkey Tea (Murchie's)

Product Description: A fine black tea from Yunnan Province, China, featuring large, unbroken leaves interwoven with abundant golden tips.

The dried leaf is mixed black and gold, with a musky, fruity, slightly grassy aroma and produces a rich deep red-gold liquor, very round, full-bodied flavour with a slight briskness. The flavour and aroma notes for this complex tea include dried apricot or plum, honey or burnt sugar, and possibly a slight smokiness or light maltiness and it has a lingering, soft, ‘fuzzy’ finish that reminds you that you’re drinking great tea.

The dry leaves have an aroma of honey, seasoned wood, and malt.

The bright red infusion has an aroma of plums, nuts, caramelized sugar, and smoke.  The taste is fruity with notes of roasted vegetables, wood, and a hint of smoke with a long fruity finish.

While this tea loses some full-bodied aroma and flavor after the first infusion, it was still enjoyable throughout three steepings.

The dry leaves smell sweet and lightly spicy with a hint of smoke.

The golden infusion has an aroma that is sweetly fruity with notes of green vine and a hint of flowers.  The taste is light and sweet with a light fruity finish.

While the taste and aroma are very light during the first infusion, additional notes of green string beans and smoke came through with a second and third infusion.

The light yellow infusion has a sweet cream flavor and aroma with a long, sweet, buttery finish.

The flavor and aroma are at their fullest in the first infusion, though an interesting hint of floral notes came through with a second infusion.
