The lighting was cooperating yesterday, so I was able to capture a photo of the tokonoma in the smaller tea room at East-West Chanoyu Center.
The flower is Gaku-ajisai (Lace-cap Hydrangea or Hydrangea macrophylla) with Susuki (Pampas Grass or Miscanthus Sinensis).
The scroll reads, "Nichi nichi kore koujitsu" or "Every day is a fine day."
On a personal note, this is my favorite scroll for its lively brush strokes and the thought behind the words. I smile whenever I see it.
