Kissako

Kissako is located in San Francisco's Japantown on Webster Street near Post Street in the Kinokuniya Building (Lower Level).  It's a small, open-air business that happens to serve some of my favorite Japanese foods.  I discovered it while researching places to visit during my first-ever trip to San Francisco and I was not disappointed.

At the time of my visit, there was a scale replica of Osaka Castle on display right next to the dining area.  My last trip to Japan was canceled, but I still got to see some of the sights!

Something that will bring me back to Kissako on future visits to San Francisco is their well-prepared bowl of matcha.  I was so eager to taste it, I forgot to take a photo first.  The foam was mounded perfectly in the center before I dove in for that first sip.  There is nothing quite like matcha to release tension and clear the mind after too little sleep and an early morning flight.

I ordered a meal to follow the matcha and it came with a cup of green tea.  Who can say no to more delicious tea?  Certainly not me.

If you find yourself in Japantown, be sure to visit Kissako.  They have a good selection of Japanese teas in addition to freshly made snacks and meals.
