The dry leaves have an aroma of green, fresh-cut grass and sweet hay.
The infusion is pale yellow-green with a green aroma similar to sencha and just a hint of flowers. The taste is green with a touch of almond and is a little buttery with a long green finish.
By the third infusion, I was still getting flavorful and aromatic results and could easily look forward to more. After the first infusion, I lowered the time to two minutes which resulted in a strong flavor and aroma while still being only lightly astringent.
I do wish I had more information to provide about this tea as the origins are important to the characteristics and I find it upsetting to learn about a great product, only to find that it is inaccessible. Unfortunately, this sample was provided to me by a third party and the supplier is strictly wholesale with no online catalog. Many of their teas are available through other businesses, but this does not seem to be one of them. I would also like to note the more common spelling, "Cui Feng" for those who may want to look for it elsewhere. For the purposes of this review, I use the spelling as it appears on the package.
