Tea Review: Pettiagalla Estate Golden Ceylon (Perennial Tea Room)

Advent Tea Calendar Day 8

Pettiagalla Estate Golden Ceylon
Perennial Tea Room
Type:  Black
Origin:  Sri Lanka, Pettiagalla Estate
Product Description:  An elegant tea with a beautiful golden liquor. A smooth and mild taste which is slightly fruity and refreshing make this an excellent afternoon tea.

Temperature:  208° F
Amount:  3 grams
Steeping Time:  3 minutes

The dry leaves have an aroma of sweet dried dates and oak.

The red-orange infusion has a warm, fruity aroma with elements of citrus and brown sugar.  The taste is similar to carmelized sugar with moderate astringency and a long finish.

As this is a high-grown Ceylon with milder characteristics than low-grown teas, I would recommend trying the first steeping without milk.  It has a lot of character that you wouldn't want to miss.  If you do choose to go with a second steeping, the flavor is still bold, though without the subtleties of the first steeping.

This tea was purchased by me.
