The dry leaves have an aroma of flowers, sweet oats, and seasoned wood.
The infusion is copper-red with a heady floral aroma and notes of apricots and caramelized sugar. The taste is floral and a little woody with mild astringency and a long dry finish.
A minute or so into the finish an intriguingly fruity taste made an appearance. A second infusion brought out similar results with a slight increase in astringency and no loss in character and a third infusion was slightly mellower with the fruity apricot aroma moving to the front. A pleasant finish to a full-bodied tea.

One of my all-time favorite teas . . . but it's not a Darjeeling. It's in a completely different state than West Bengal. Sikkim is second smallest state in India, and Temi is the only garden in it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for catching that! Being from a shop that sells almost exclusively Darjeeling teas made for a too-easy assumption. I've updated the post and now I want to more about Temi tea.
