Tea Review: Persian Gold (Perennial Tea Room)

Persian Gold
Perennial Tea Room
Type: Black
Origin: Iran
Product Description: Black tea from northern Iran. Beautiful long leaves and a taste as smooth as silk with notes of honey as it cools in your cup. This latest picking is lighter than last years and sweeter - maintaining the sweetness as it cools.

Temperature: 208° F
Amount: 3 grams
Steeping Time: 3 minutes

The dry leaves have an aroma of peanut shells and seared wood.

The orange amber infusion has a sweet aroma of stone fruit, baked squash, and a hint of cinnamon.  The taste is smooth, sweet, and spicy with notes of dates, honey, and wood and a long sweet finish.

This is a forgiving tea, encouraging long steeps.  The sweet taste lingered long after the first cup and I almost didn't want to interrupt it.  A second infusion produced smoky notes in flavor and aroma while the honey notes moved to the front.  A third infusion was less nuanced while still being sweet and delicious.

This tea was purchased by me.
