Emperor Georgiou's Tea Room closed in June 2024.
While in Portland for Tea Fest PDX, I visited Emperor Georgiou's Tea Room for afternoon tea. Owners Wellington and Brendon Georgiou opened the Star Trek-themed Emperor Georgiou's Tea Room (formerly Lovejoy's Tea Room) in Portland's Kenton neighborhood in early 2023.
The tea room takes it's name Star Trek:Discovery with the interior decorated with murals from the series including Michelle Yeoh in her role as Captain Georgiou, the inspiration for the tea room's name. The theme also reflects the owners' intention to make the space welcoming and inclusive.
Seating is plentiful and the space is filled with natural light.
For this visit, I enjoyed the Uhura Tea Service, one of four options, and my tea was Lapsang Souchong. The service began with a refreshing Strawberry Lemonade Spritzer and the meal that followed was delicious.
Customers wearing a costume or Star Trek insignia receive a discount. Reservations are recommended and accommodations can be made for some dietary restrictions with advance notice.
