Tea Review: Dong Ding Red Oolong (Floating Leaves Tea)

Dong Ding Red Oolong
Floating Leaves Tea
Type: Oolong
Origin: Taiwan
Product Description: Not provided.

Temperature: 195°F
Amount: 3 grams
Steeping Time: 3 minutes

The dry leaves have an aroma of whole grain bread.

The golden infusion has a toasty aroma with brown bread notes and a hint of minerals.  The taste is toasty and sweet with notes of brown bread, nut shell, and whole grains.

This was a very tasty oolong with the liquor color deepening as the leaves unfurl.  The flavor was reminiscent of a breakfast cereal from my childhood. For the purposes of this tea review, I prepared the tea with a cupping set.  However, I found the best results when preparing this gongfu-style using more leaf in a smaller brewing vessel with a higher water temperature and shorter steeping time. Color deepens as the leaves unfurl.
