Tea Review: Meizhan Oolong (Jeni Dodd Tea)

Meizhan Oolong
Jeni Dodd Tea
Type: Oolong
Origin: China, Wuyishan
Product Description: Not provided.

Temperature: 195° F
Amount: 3 grams
Steeping Time: 3 minutes

The dry leaf has a heavily roasted and savory aroma with notes of fire-seared wood and nut shells.

The copper orange infusion has a roasty aroma with notes of baked squash and roasted nuts.  The taste has roasty notes of grilled vegetables and nut shells with a long roasty finish.

For fans of heavily roasted oolong like myself, this is a delight.  The color of the liquor became lighter following the initial infusion and the flavor became smoother.  This oolong brews very well when prepared western-style (larger brewing vessel, lower water temperature) as well as gongfu-style (smaller brewing vessel, more leaf, higher water temperature).

Note that the Meizhan Oolong was not in stock at the time of this review.

This tea was purchased by me at Tea Fest PDX 2024.
