Siren's Lure Tea House & Bakery

In April I had the opportunity to have tea at Siren's Lure Tea House & Bakery.  The tea house is located in Newport, Oregon's historic Nye Beach neighborhood directly across the street from the Sylvia Beach Hotel and between the Newport Visual Arts Center and Newport Performing Arts Center.  The owner is Monica VanBibber, a classically trained chef with five-star restaurants experience and a specific interest in pastries and baked goods.

Siren's Lure Tea House is spacious with ample seating and plentiful natural light.  Baked goods and gifts are available for purchase at the counter.  An amusing selection of shanties were playing on the radio.

This was an unplanned visit since my travel plans haven't coincided with the tea room's business hours in the past.  I had checked their Facebook page, saw they were open, and dashed right over.  It was a very pleasant surprise to learn that they can accommodate afternoon tea without reservations.

For this visit, I had the High Tide afternoon tea set.  My tea was Darksail, a lovely black tea flavored with orange peel.  Hot water refills were complimentary and the food was fresh and delicious.

Siren's Lure is a family business which, at the time of my visit, was only staffed by the owner and her daughter. Due to staffing limitations, business hours vary. Visit their official Facebook page for open hours and events.
