Tea Review: Meisho Sencha (Chaho Kanekichi-en)

Meisho Sencha/煎茶 名匠
Chaho Kanekichi-en/金吉園
Type: Green
Origin: Japan, Shizuoka Prefecture, Kakegawa
Product Description:
A premium sencha with a mellow flavor, deep green color, and a sweet, rich taste without astringency.
Temperature: 160° F
Amount: 3 grams
Steeping Time: 1-2 minutes

The dry leaves have a savory, nutty, and marine green aroma.

The liquor is opaque and green with a rich, savory, and green vegetal aroma.  The taste is thick, nutty, rich, and savory with green vegetal notes and a refreshing, long, sweet green finish.

The first infusion of this deep-steamed sencha was bold in flavor with a thick, opaque broth.  The broth cleared up with subsequent infusions which held up beautifully to longer steeping times.  I had the best results for my preferences with a 1 minute initial steeping, a 1.5 minute second steeping, and a 2 minute third steeping.

This tea was purchased by me.
