Tea Review: Bai Hao Oolong/Oriental Beauty (Perennial Tea Room)

Bai Hao Oolong (Oriental Beauty)
Perennial Tea Room
Type:  Oolong
Origin:  China, Fujian Province
Product Description:  Large leaf China Oolong picked August 2011. Grown at the Tian Xing Tea Farm in Fujian China. Also known as a 5 color oolong - 7 color being the absolute top grade.

Very dark, 60-70% fermented, this tea has a rich, fruity aroma and taste with a light, spicy finish. Sue's favorite Oolong, elegant and delicious.

Temperature: 185° F
Amount: 3 grams
Steeping Time: 3 minutes

The dry leaf has a sweet honey aroma with underlying floral notes.

The honey and floral aroma and flavor stand out in this bright, amber-red infusion along with a light astringency and a velvety finish.

The pleasant flavor notes carry well throughout three steepings, becoming lighter and sweeter by the third infusion.  I believe this might fare even better if the steeping time is increased after each infusion and I'm looking forward to testing that theory.

This tea was purchased by me.
