Tea Review: Dragonwell (Metropolitan Tea Company)

Dragonwell
Metropolitan Tea Company
Type:  Green
Origin:  China, Zhejiang Province
Product Description:  Lung Ching Tea - also known as Dragonwell is produced by hand through a 10-part process. The side of West Lake in Zhejiang Province grows the tea used to produce Dragonwell. Dragonwell is distinguished by its beautiful shape, emerald colour, scented smell and tending sweet floral character. Full bodied tending astringent (brisk) with a slight heady bouquet. Full green tea flavor.

Temperature: 175° F
Amount: 3 grams
Steeping Time: 2 minutes

The aroma of the dry leaves is peppery, grassy green, and sweet.

The infusion is pale green with a sharp green aroma, a toasty bold green taste, and a light velvet finish.

A two minute steeping produced an appealing bold green flavor with mild astringency.  I believe the steeping time could be increased for stronger results without fear of the tea becoming bitter.

This was tea was provided as part of a workshop.
