Tea Review: Lover's Leap (Metropolitan Tea Company)

Lover's Leap
Metropolitan Tea Company
Type:  Black
Origin:  Sri Lanka, Nuwara Eliya
Product Description:  Lover’s Leap (a western tea estate) is one of the best tea gardens in Sri Lanka. During its peak season (Feb/Mar) this estate’s production is characterized by a delightful flavour that is astringent and lively. The best weather for producing quality tea is highlighted by cool nights, dry weather and bright sunny days. The liquor is bright with excellent flowery flavour and a cup that tends somewhat light. A good after-dinner tea.

Temperature: 208° F
Amount: 3 grams
Steeping Time: 3 minutes

The dry leaves have a warm, sweet aroma of hay.

The infusion is coppery-orange with a sugar-sweet aroma.  The flavor is mildly flowery with just a hint of fruit and a dry finish with an echo of citrus fruit (tangerine comes to mind).

This was certainly an enjoyable self-drinking tea.  While it can take milk, I did not find that this added  to or improved the character of the tea.

This was tea was provided as part of a workshop.
