Tea Review: Da Hong Pao (New Century Tea Gallery)

Da Hong Pao
New Century Tea Gallery
Type:  Oolong
Origin:  China, Fujian Province
Product Description:  Not provided

Temperature: 180° F
Amount: 3 grams
Steeping Time: 3 minutes

The dry leaf has an aroma that reminds me of wood, nut shells, and roasted vegetables.

The infusion is golden amber and has a roasted vegetal aroma with hints of wood and nuts.  There is a roasted vegetal quality in the flavor, as well as something that reminds me of smoked almonds with the toasted dry taste of the almond skin followed by a lightly sweet finish.

This "Red Robe" oolong continues to provide good flavor and aroma throughout multiple steepings with a complexity that has me looking forward to discovering more of its nuances in future brewings.

This tea was purchased by me.
