The Crumpet Shop

The Crumpet Shop is currently only offering takeout service. (12/2021)

Recently, I celebrated my birthday with a visit to The Crumpet Shop.  This Seattle institution is located in the famous Pike Place Market on 1st Avenue near Pike Street and has been providing guests with freshly made crumpets for 36 years.

My morning began with a stroll through Pike Place Market, watching the shops come to life to prepare for another busy day, and arriving at The Crumpet Shop just as it opened.

The interior is decorated with cheerful, whimsical paintings including scenes from Alice in Wonderland.  Malt shop music (a favorite) was playing in the background during my visit.

Tea is available in loose leaf and in teabags.  They offer teabag tea to-go, but the loose leaf varieties appear to be strictly for stay-in guests.

Bulk loose leaf teas are available for purchase, as well.

I enjoyed a light breakfast of a fresh-off-the-grill crumpet topped with butter and honey with a nice cup of High Mountain Green Tea.  I may have also taken a Vermont crumpet to go...

The Crumpet Shop is open from 7:00am to 3:30pm on weekdays and 7:30am to 3:30pm on the weekend.  I can't imagine that they have a slow day, so if you'd like to sit and linger over your crumpet (and tea, of course!), I would recommend arriving early in the morning.  While crumpets might not be a traditional breakfast food, they're quite suited for it.
