The dry leaf aroma is sweet and mossy, with notes of malt and chocolate.
The infusion is amber orange with a sharp, sweet muscat aroma and a moderately astringent taste.
This Darjeeling is enjoyable, but I believe it would be much better when steeped at a slightly lower temperature, developing more nuance in flavor and aroma. The flavor is best at one steeping, but it did develop aroma notes of malt and caramel during a second steeping.
This was another gift tea that didn't come with additional information, except the label which described it as Darjeeling "94". I'm not sure if this references a year or lot number or...?
