Tea Review: Golden Fairy (The Jasmine Pearl)

Golden Fairy
The Jasmine Pearl
Type:  Green
Origin:  China
Product Description:  A delicious new addition to our green teas! This Chinese green tea is unique and complex. Partially smoothered, a method used to make yellow tea, Golden Fairy carries the astringency of a darjeeling, the sweetness of a ripe peach, and vegetal spicyness.

Temperature: 175° F
Amount: 3 grams
Steeping Time: 3 minutes

The dry leaves have an aroma of sweet hay, oats, and a hint of cinnamon.

The golden infusion has an aroma of baked squash, buttery and sweet.  The taste also reminds me of baked squash and is toasty, smooth, and buttery with just a hint of sweetness.

Three steepings produced very good results with a slight greenness appearing in the flavor after the first steeping, though there was no astringency.  I have tried this tea at slightly higher temperatures which brings out variations on flavor and aroma, while continuing to have low astringency.

This tea was purchased by me.
