The dry leaves are blended with cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, clove, anise, and pepper.
The infusion is red with a boldly spicy, peppery aroma and a smooth, spicy, peppery taste, with low-to-moderate astringency and a dry finish.
While three minutes produced a deliciously spicy cup of tea that reminded me of biting into a gingersnap, I would recommend a 5 minute steep for an even bolder flavor and especially if you plan to add milk and/or sugar. I was pleasantly surprised to find that a second infusion still provided tasty, spicy results.
