The dry leaves have a rich aroma of roasted coffee beans and cocoa powder.
The infusion is dark red-orange with an aroma of caramelized sugar and sun-dried wood. The taste is similar to caramelized, fire-roasted vegetables, a bit sweet with a hint of dark chocolate.
The rich roasted green tea character of this karigane hojicha holds up well through at least three steepings and the chocolate notes were a pleasant surprise.
