Tea Review: Monsoon Black (Perennial Tea Room)

Monsoon Black
Perennial Tea Room
Type:  Black
Origin:  Kenya
Product Description:  Handcrafted Specialty African tea from the Nandi Hills of Kenya - full bodied, low tannin.

Temperature: 208° F
Amount: 3 grams
Steeping Time: 3 minutes

The dry leaves have an aroma of sweet oats, soy sauce, and seasoned wood.

The red-amber infusion has an aroma of warm, honey-glazed fruit and baked squash with a hint of green vine.  The taste is sweet with notes of roasted vegetables, almonds, and a hint of caramel.

The best results are in the first full-bodied infusion.  The dry leaf aroma reminded me of the delicious dashi broth used in some of my favorite Japanese dishes while the flavor and aroma of the infusion reminded me of Autumn foods.  This tea piqued my appetite while pleasing my palate.

This tea was purchased by me.
