Tea Review: Blue Oolong Tea (Yunomi/Kaneban Higuchi)

Advent Tea Calendar Day 7

Blue Oolong Tea
Kaneban Higuchi/Yunomi
Type: Oolong
Origin: Japan, Shiga Prefecture, Koga
Product Description: Located in the southern part of Shiga prefecture and the western part of Shigaraki town, Asamiya is a hilly, rural region on the Shigaraki plateau (altitude 400 meters). The temperature change between night and day is drastic in this region creating a climate where mist forms frequently -- an ideal climate for cultivating tea leaves.

Temperature: 195° F
Amount: 3 grams
Steeping Time: 2 minutes

The dry leaves have a woody and floral aroma with notes of honey and nuts shells.

The orange amber infusion has an aroma of honey, baked fruit, and cooked string beans with a taste that is toasty with notes of honey and light astringency.

The first infusion produced the best results with a pleasantly toasty sweetness that becomes much fainter in further infusions.

This tea was purchased by me.
