The dry leaves have an aroma of fire-seared wood, roasted nut shells, and a faint hint of cocoa.
The orange amber infusion has an aroma of smoky roasted nut shells, wood, and cocoa. The taste is smooth and sweet with notes of wood and roasted chestnuts and a long, sweet finish.
This hojicha was flavorful throughout three steepings, mellowing slightly after each infusion and developing a fruit-like note in the second infusion.
