Tea Review: 2017 Boseong Ujeon Green Tea Powder (Teas Unique)

2017 Boseong Ujeon Green Tea Powder (Matcha)
Teas Unique
Type: Green
Origin: South Korea, South Jeolla Province, Boseong
Product Description: This Boseong Ujeon green tea powder is hand harvested around April 8. The tender young leaves are then steamed to prevent any oxidation, and ceramic ball milled into a fine powder.

Temperature: 175° F
Tea Amount: 1 teaspoon
Water: 6 ounces

The nokcha garu (green tea powder) is bright green with an aroma of fragrant wood, sweet straw, and nori.

Following the instructions on the packaging produced a rather intense flavor.  I prepared a second bowl with 1 1/2 scoops of tea using a chashaku (approximately 1/2 teaspoon) and approximately 1/4 cup of water which produced a bold green taste with wood notes and a brisk astringency.  This would be most enjoyable paired with a sweet and a little more water helps to smooth out the astringency.

This tea was provided as a free sample without guarantee of a review.
