Temperature: 175° F
Tea Amount: ~1 gram (1 teaspoon)
Water: ~2 ounces (1/4 cup)
Water: ~2 ounces (1/4 cup)
The matcha powder is bright green in color with a sweet, nutty, and marine/salt water aroma.
The aroma in the warmed bowl is savory with notes of warm edamame (soybeans) and grass.
After whisking, the aroma is sharply green. The taste is mildly astringent, mellowed by the creaminess of the froth, and grassy green with nut-like notes following shortly after each sip and a sweetness in the finish.
Nuance can be a bit more challenging to find in organic matcha due to differences in how the tea is grown and produced, so I was pleasantly surprised by the depth of this particular example. The taste is on the comfortable side of bold and smoothed out nicely with the froth from whisking.
