Tea Review: Shades of Umber (Cured Leaves Tea)

Shades of Umber
Cured Leaves Tea
Type: Dark
Origin: Malawi
Product Description:
A decadent dark tea that doubles as dessert. Yes, please! Shades of brown, orange and red mingle for an earthy, woody hallelujah, while a faint hint of licorice offers a delicious aftertaste. The deep richness of this tea makes it a perfect coffee replacement, especially ideal with a splash of milk or milk substitute and your favorite sweetener.
Temperature: 208° F
Amount: 3 grams
Steeping Time: 3 minutes

The dry leaves have notes of walnut shells, moss, and earth.

The dark reddish-brown liquor has a rich earthy aroma with notes of moss and a hint of cocoa.  The taste is smooth, rich, and earthy with notes of cocoa.

This is one of the smoothest, richest dark teas I've encountered.  It remained flavorful throughout multiple infusions with cocoa notes becoming more pronounced after the first. It was interesting to note that the dry leaf aroma was reminiscent to the aroma in my great grandparents' root cellar.

This tea was received as a gift from a third party.
