The Sorrento Hotel no longer offers a regular afternoon tea service.
The Italian-inspired Sorrento Hotel opened in Seattle in 1909. Located on the corner of Madison Street and Terry Avenue, it remains a stately fixture in Seattle's First Hill neighborhood.
Afternoon Tea is served in the Fireside Room located just inside the main entrance. The rich wood interior, holiday decor, comfortable seating, and low lighting provide a warm and intimate atmosphere.
Sorrento Hotel offers a modest but varied tea menu. I selected the Kyoto Rice for its toasty green flavor and aroma to counterbalance the day's cold and foggy weather as well as the rich sweets I would soon be enjoying.
The Afternoon Tea fare was light and delicious. The sweets outweighed the savories and the scones were unusually small, so I might recommend a light and savory snack before or after tea for balance.
Staff in the Fireside Room were friendly and informative. With advance reservations, food will be prepared and at your table promptly after tea is served. For those with dietary restrictions (including gluten-free), they are quite accommodating and will adjust the menu accordingly.
