Tea Review: The Magician (Wild Coast Brew)

The Magician
Wild Coast Brew
Type: Flavored Black
Origin: China
Product Description:
A Twist on Earl Grey

We reimagined the classically citrus-scented black tea using a lovely blend of citrusy ZunYi Black tea and roasty Keemun Black tea with added herbs like hops, linden, orange peel, and lemon verbena for more complex flavors and medicinal support. A blend to spark your belief in super-natural possibilities, to help you make leaps into the expansive unknown.
Temperature: 208° F
Amount: 3 grams
Steeping Time: 2 minutes

The dry leaf blend includes ZunYi Black tea, Keemun black tea, lemon verbena, orange peel, linden flower and leaf, hops, and bergamot oil.

The copper red infusion has a heady citrus aroma with bergamot near the front.  The taste is surprisingly smooth and citrusy with no notable astringency and a long refreshing finish.

This citrus-filled tea blend was refreshing and bright and I would even call it cheerful.  The results were wonderful with a 2-minute steeping with the fullest flavor in the first infusion. A longer steeping time will also produce nice, if bolder, results.

Tea Review: The Goof (Wild Coast Brew)

The Goof
Wild Coast Brew
Type: Flavored Black, Herbal
Origin: China, India
Product Description:
Defying convention, this brew features notes of chocolate, smoke, and spice. Smoked Lapsang Black Tea blended with Assam Black Tea, cacao husks, smokey chipotle, blackberries, and vanilla reveal an eccentric yet delicious tea.
Temperature: 208° F
Amount: 3 grams
Steeping Time: 3 minutes

The dry leaf blend includes black tea, blackberry leaves, blackberries, vanilla bean, and chipotle flakes.

The bright coppery-red infusion has an aroma of chocolate, spicy peppers, vanilla, and a hint of berries.  The taste is dark and rich with bold notes of cocoa, peppers, and a hint of smoke with berries in the finish.

I was delighted to find that the taste of this tea blend met the promise of the aroma with all the ingredients well-represented.  The mouth-feel was also smoother than expected.  While the fullest flavor was in the initial infusion, the second infusion was also very enjoyable.

Tea Review: The Shadow (Wild Coast Brew)

The Shadow
Wild Coast Brew
Type: Flavored Black, Herbal
Origin: China, India
Product Description:
A deep and daring brew featuring the distinct warmth, spiciness, and sweetness of holy basil (tulsi), a blend of LaoShan Black tea and Assam Black tea, milky oats, and cinnamon.  A contemplative and nourishing blend for times of self-discovery.
Temperature: 208° F
Amount: 3 grams
Steeping Time: 3 minutes

The dry leaves are a blend of black tea, holy basil, milky oats, cinnamon, licorice root, ashwagandha, and ginger.

The orange amber infusion has a sweet aroma with tulsi, ginger, cinnamon, and licorice notes most prominent followed by almost chocolate-like notes and a sweetness in the back of the throat in the finish.

This blend was flavorful, smooth, and delicious (my tasting notes include the word "yummy") when brewed for 3 minutes with no astringency or bitterness developing even with a longer steeping.

This tea was purchased by me.
