B&O Espresso

B&O Espresso closed permanently in 2014.

My visit to B&O Espresso last week was bittersweet.  It was a happy occasion because I met a dear friend there after almost two years of keeping in touch online.  Sadly, the restaurant will be closing later this year and will be demolished to make way for a new 6-story mixed-use building.

B&O Espresso is located on the corner of Belmont Avenue East and East Olive Way.  It was the first espresso coffee shop in the Capitol Hill neighborhood, opening in 1976.  The interior is spacious with plenty of seating, eclectic decor, and friendly staff.  Along with dinner and a sinful selection of desserts, it offers a selection of 15 loose leaf teas, some of which I hope to taste before the impending closure.

I ordered the London Fog, a cambric-style concoction made with Earl Grey, honey, cinnamon, and steamed milk.  It was light, tasty and, I'll just say it, snuggly.

There has been no news on whether B&O Espresso will relocate or close down permanently, so make time to visit and give it a fond farewell.
