Tea Review: Pumpkin Masala Chai (Afternoon To Remember)

Pumpkin Masala Chai
Afternoon to Remember
Type:  Flavored Black
Product Description:  Pumpkin Masala Chai is an excellent treat for fall days! Try it with a little milk and sugar.

Temperature:  200° F
Amount:  1 teaspoon (approximately 3 grams)
Steeping Time:  3-5 minutes

This tea was purchased by me.

The dry tea leaves are accompanied by pieces of dried ginger root, chips of cinnamon, and cardamom pods.

The infusion is bright and red and the aroma is warm and spicy.  The recommended steeping time is 3-5 minutes. I found that 3 minutes was ideal when not adding anything to the tea.  Any longer and the bold spices and astringency begin to take over.

After steeping 4-5 minutes, I prefer this tea with a sprinkle of sugar and a splash of milk. The masala chai spices combined with the pumpkin flavor brings to mind a fresh-baked pumpkin pie and is well-suited to the chilly autumn months.

This tea would pair well with savory meals and, with a touch of sugar and milk, becomes a nice after-dinner treat.

An Afternoon to Remember will no longer sell tea after May 6, 2016.  Inspirations Tea Room will begin selling the same tea blends after May 24, 2016.
