Tea Republik University District

Tea Republik is a tea room located on University Way NE off of NE 45th Street in Seattle's University District.

The low lighting gives this tea room a cozy feel, while the open space through the middle makes it feel surprisingly roomy.  Splashes of color, from the matcha green wall near the back to the decorative lighting in the center, really draw the eye without taking over the whole room.

In addition to a wide selection of loose-leaf teas including some rare treats, Tea Republik also offers a small selection of desserts, though they do not offer gluten-free foods at this time. The tea menu can be a bit overwhelming to first-time visitors, but fear not!  The helpful staff will answer your questions and make recommendations based on your taste preferences.

The weather outside was chilly and I was facing a long and stressful day, so I ordered my favorite comfort tea, Dragonwell (Long Jing).  For those like myself who tend to linger over their tea, the staff will provide a tea bag tidy on request to hold the tea strainer.  You may want to ask for assistance removing it from the pot as it can be rather hot.

My friend enjoyed a cup of Golden Monkey, complete with lantern reflection.

Before I left, I made sure to get a sample of their Lichee Congou and Sencha Kyoto Cherry teas to try at home.  I really enjoyed this first visit to Tea Republik and look forward to more!
