Tea Review: Voi Vàng Jasmin Tea (Quốc Thái)

Voi Vàng Jasmin Tea
Quốc Thái
Type: Flavored Green
Origin: Vietnam
Product Description:  Not provided.

Temperature: 195° F
Amount: 3 grams
Steeping Time: 3 minutes

The dry leaves have an aroma of jasmine, biscuits, and a hint of smokiness.

The liquor is golden yellow with an aroma of jasmine and something bread-like.  The flavor is jasmine and a little soapy with moderate astringency.

In the original manufacturer's packaging, the dry leaves smell quite soapy, but this becomes considerably less pronounced outside the packaging where they take on an interesting smoky aroma.  While heavily oxidized, the leaves are still green, so I am assuming the smokiness is from unintentional exposure during the drying process.  The flavor and aroma drop off dramatically after the first steeping, so I would not recommend a second steeping.

This tea is no longer available for online purchase.
