The Jasmine Pearl Tea Company retail location closed in 2020 and they have transitioned to an online tea shop.
The Jasmine Pearl provides a wide variety of products and services. From the sign at the entrance, they offer tea sampling, hot tea to-go, bulk teas, artisan teaware, and private tastings and classes.
The shop is well lit with natural light coming through the large windows during the daytime and warm lighting filling the room during the evening. They offer a wide selection of teas, teaware, and tea supplies, including chawan (tea bowls) created by local artisans.
Most of the available teas are on display in the front of the shop, but be sure to check the tea menu for some surprises you might otherwise miss.
If you want to taste a tea before purchasing or if you'd just like to explore the freshly steeped teas already waiting, the tea bar is absolutely worth visiting. I arrived shortly after the shop opened for the day and it was already hopping with tea enthusiasts and I joined in with a fun group. Someone would request a tea from the tea menu and everyone could taste it. Thanks to that, I discovered some lovely herbals I might have otherwise passed over.
The staff are very knowledgeable about their teas and best brewing methods. Don't be afraid to ask questions.
I almost never turn down the opportunity to try new teas, so my tasting cup remained virtually bottomless during my visit.
In addition to replenishing my supply of Chunmee, I couldn't leave without purchasing some of the amazing Golden Fairy and Shinko green teas we sampled. The Jasmine Pearl's tea sampling bar is both brilliant and sinister. It's almost impossible not to discover new teas to love!
