The dry leaves have a heady aroma of cinnamon, vanilla, and gingerbread.
The infusion is orange amber with a bold aroma of vanilla, cinnamon, and gingerbread, a smooth sweet taste with notes of cinnamon, nutmeg, and other spices, followed by a long sweet finish.
This smells and tastes just as described which is not always the case with flavored teas and tisanes. While most of the flavoring comes out in the first steeping, the lighter flavor of the rooibos does carry over into a second steeping. I would recommend using a teabag filter or a solid, non-mesh infuser with very small holes as the rooibos will escape from fine mesh infusers.
