Tea Review: Snow Day Blend (Friday Afternoon)

Snow Day Blend
Friday Afternoon
Type: Flavored Black
Origin: Not Provided
Product Description:
Black tea with chocolate and hazelnut flavors, bits of cinnamon and chunks of dark chocolate make this tea our most popular winter and holiday blend! Try it with a splash of cream (or Bailey's) for an extra lovely treat.
Temperature: 208° F
Amount: 3 grams
Steeping Time: 3 minutes

The dry leaf blend includes black tea, dark chocolate, cinnamon, hazelnut flavoring, and chocolate flavoring.

The liquor is dark red and semi-opaque with a heady sweet and spicy aroma of spices that remind me of masala chai, chocolate liqueur, and sugar and spiced cookies.  The taste is sweet, though not cloyingly so, with an almost creamy thickness and notes of gingerbread and masala chai spices, chocolate, and a hint of nuts.  The finish is long and dessert-like.

Like its name suggests, this reminded me of staying home for an unexpected snow day, sipping a mug of a hot spiced holiday drink.  The aroma reminded me of Glühwein (mulled wine) and, oddly enough, coquito, and the finish reminded me of gingerbread cookies.  The second infusion was slightly mellower in sweetness while still being full-flavored while the flavor of the tea leaves became more pronounced.  The third infusion was mellower, though still rather pleasant.  This blend was part of a limited seasonal winter sampler and is unavailable at the time of this review.  It will likely make an appearance again in November or early December.

This tea was purchased by me.
