Tea Review: Ureshino Green Tea Gyokuro Kukicha (Yunomi/Chakouan)

Ureshino Green Tea Gyokuro Kukicha/嬉野玉露くき茶(白折)
Chakouan/Yunomi
Type: Green
Origin: Japan, Saga Prefecture, Ureshino
Product Description:
A gyokuro kukicha (stem tea) produced from the Ureshino region in Saga Prefecture that is made from sorting the stems and leaves of the gyokuro manufacturing process. Please delight in the light umami and sweetness as well as the refreshingness that is particular to the stems. In general, this gyokuro kukicha will be slightly lighter and sweeter flavor than the gyokuro which it was made. Please enjoy the delicate aroma as well as the mellow and savory aftertaste.

Temperature: 160° F
Amount: 3 grams
Steeping Time: 1 minute

The dry leaves have a sweet, nutty, marine green, and peppery aroma.

The pale golden green infusion has a rich and savory aroma with nutty, buttery, and green notes.  The taste is rich, savory, green, and nutty with a light and refreshing green finish.

For the purposes of this review, I followed the recommended brewing directions, using 160° F water and steeping for 1 minute.  The results were rich and savory throughout three infusions while the color of the liquor became brighter.  I thoroughly enjoyed each infusion, with the third really standing out for how refreshing it felt.

This tea was purchased by me.
