Tea Review: 2005 Yiwu Huangpian (Liquid Proust)

2005 Yiwu Huangpian, 2-Year Barrel Stored (Yang Qing Hao)
Liquid Proust
Type: Puerh
Origin: China, Zhejiang Province, Yiwu
Product Description:
2005 yiwu huangpian from Yang Qing Hao that I decided to put in a rye barrel for two years.
This just came out of the barrel and is a very complicated taste of spiced bananas bathing in mushroom soup.
Temperature: 208° F
Amount: 3 grams
Steeping Time: 3 minutes

The dry leaf has a light aroma of autumn leaves and aged wood.

The orange-red liquor has an aroma of autumn leaves, walnuts, and a hint of fruit.  The taste has notes of wood, nut shells, dark green veg, and dried mushroom with a dry finish.

While I really enjoyed the results with 3 minute infusions, this tea handles longer infusions nicely and brews up well with western and gongfu-style methods.  Perhaps because I've been around a lot of leaf piles this autumn, I picked up similar aroma notes in this huangpian.

This tea was received as a gift from a third party.
