The dry leaves have a savory aroma of earth, peat moss, and wood.
The dark reddish-brown infusion has a rich and savory aroma with notes of earth, moss, and tree bark. The taste is rich and almost smooth with notes of earth and wood and just a hint of chocolate with a long finish.
This brewed up equally well prepared western style with a cupping set and gongfu style using more leaf and a smaller brewing vessel. The liquor became thicker, darker, and richer with the second infusion, then milder while still being quite pleasant with a third infusion. This tea was not available from Floating Leaves at the time of this review.
