Tea Review: Raise the Dead (Friday Afternoon)

Raise the Dead
Friday Afternoon
Type: Flavored Puerh, White Tea
Origin: Not Provided
Product Description:
This extremely dark and earthy tea features veins of bright cranberry to wake you up (better than brains!). White tea meets 15-year cave aged black tea for a rich, humusy experience sure to help you shake off the dirt and shuffle forward.
Temperature: 208° F
Amount: 3 grams
Steeping Time: 4-5 minutes

The dry leaf blend includes puerh, white tea, cranberries, and marigold petals.

The dark red infusion has a rich, earthy and mossy aroma with a hint of cranberries.  The taste is rich and earthy with a hint of cranberry tartness and an earthy, bright, and faintly sweet cranberry finish.

I found the best results by using just a bit more than the usual amount of leaf and increasing the steeping time after the initial infusion, with the fullest flavor in the first two infusions.  From an everyday tea drinking perspective, this is a tasty puerh with flavor and aroma notes from the other ingredients that play a supporting role without overwhelming the pleasant earthiness of the shou puerh.  In the spirit of spooky season and the name of the blend, this evokes freshly disturbed earth as well as peat and cranberry bogs.  Delightful.

This is a seasonal blend, so be sure to look for it close to autumn
